Come on October 1, 2023 to run together in the heart of the Văcărești Delta at the greenest sports event in Bucharest, organized by Sun Plaza in the Văcărești Natural Park.

What is Sun Challenge?
Sun Challenge Văcărești is the greenest sports event in Bucharest, which since 2018 combines the love for sport with the desire to protect nature. This year Sun Plaza is organizing the 5th edition on October 1, 2023. We invite you to run in a green area in the lungs of the capital to protect the wild life in the Văcărești Natural Park.

The participation fees are different depending on the period in which the registration is made. Until September 11, you can enjoy the Early Bird period: 120 RON for the 5 km, 10 km or 20 km race. Between September 12 and 25, participants pay 150 RON for all tests.

This year we set out to create, with the help of participation contributions from the runners, new floating shelters for the birds and turtles in Văcărești Park.
After in previous years we built a maternity ward for turtles (in 2019 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjTBrWioq88), we created a program for the conservation of otters (in 2021 – https://www.youtube .com/watch?v=NmN43Sl2iRU) and we created the largest running route, 10 km long, in the heart of the Vacaresti Delta (in 2022- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fyh1sP42l0), the year this time we help the animals in the “lungs” of the capital to be even safer.
Văcărești Park is a refuge for numerous species of animals. They would be safer if they had shelters away from predators on land. Together we can protect them! We will build more floating shelters where the animals can safely raise their young.
After this year’s edition of the Sun Challenge, you will be able to admire on the many paths in the park: cormorants, red ducks, herons and turtles that will benefit from the shelters built following the event organized by Sun Plaza. The floating houses built from the participation contributions of the runners will be made of sustainable materials that do not pollute the environment.
